Zoë Markos-Thresher

Your Host & Yoga Teacher

South East London Yoga Teacher, Zoë Markos-Thresher, will be your host and yoga facilitator throughout the retreat guiding you through twice daily yoga practices which are inspired by over 500 hours of training accumulated in the styles of Vinyasa, Mandala, Rocket, Yin, Pre + Post Natal. With this being one of Zoë’s longer retreat offerings, her intention is to create a space for you to immerse deeply and experience the profound effects of regular practice in our charming Italian retreat home.

Morning practice will be dedicated to more dynamic styles, most frequently we explore the concept of mandala yoga in which we cycle around the mat adding layers and pulsations to our flow. Here we focus on particular anatomical and energetic elements which weave a thoughtful, interoceptive and meditative framework to play, practice & contemplate within - one of Zoë’s favourite styles of yoga to share. Around this, there is also time for vinyasa and rocket practice, both of which bring with them their own creativity and a chance to try out something a little different.

This retreat is a little different as we have an additional guest teacher joining us, Dora Jones, who will be offering daily pilates + fitness classes. We’ll get a little creative here and perhaps fuse a pilates class with a wind down yin, or pop a fitness class into the afternoon at the outdoor calisthenics gym. Either way, we encourage a holistic approach to fitness with well-rounded movement methods on offer throughout.

Our hope is that you leave this retreat capsule having felt new connection to yourself through your practice, with a full cup you can take back home with you and hopefully a new friendship or two along the way.

We so hope to meet you on retreat sometime soon,

love Zoë x

Dora Jones, Guest Teacher

With over 30 years of experience in the fitness and wellness industry, Dora has had a long and successful career as a trainer across several different disciplines, sharing her teachings, guidance and advice across platforms such as Good Morning Britain and several fitness DVD’s over the years.

Nowadays, she continues to inspire and share her practices with local communities in Kent to her very loyal, loving and longstanding community who continue to be the reason why Dora continues to teach and pioneer for a healthy, balanced and holistic approach to movement and fitness.

If we haven’t mentioned already, Dora is Zoë’s mum (!!), so we hope to bring our mother daughter inspired and passed down love for movement to the retreat space to share with all of you.

The Meals

As mediterraneans ourselves, we appreciate the importance of food on a retreat. Especially as we want you to come away feeling nourished inside and out, and in our opinion, there’s no better way than the fresh, organic and homegrown flavours of southern Italy.

The on-site farm provides us daily with farm to table meals, ensuring that the menu is seasonal all year round. Meals are lovingly curated by our very own private chef especially for retreat and we can cater for absolutely any dietary, just ask. The fruit and vegetable gardens are complimented by the addition of ducks, chickens & pigs; just to add to the charm of Tenuta Negroamaro.

If you like, a cooking class or demonstration can be organised as an additional activity so we can learn about and discover local rustic cuisine all together.

“What a wonderful retreat. I am not an experienced yogi, yet Zoë adjusted the moves to cater to all abilities and her excellent music selection enhanced each practice. Everything worked smoothly from pick-ups at the airport, to the beautiful accommodation with stunning views, incredible food from a very talented chef and the masseuse was superb. There were trips on offer but no pressure to go if one preferred to stay and relax by the pool. I returned home feeling very relaxed. Will be returning in 2025.”

Our hotel favours indoor outdoor living, offering guests an invitation to slow down in one of the many private or communal nooks of the premise. Nestled amongst 7 acres you’ll find a private bar area, several seating areas to throw your feet up and enjoy a good book, indoor living areas and a large gazebo covered yoga shala; this is the perfect spot for a little slow living.

Please note that all 10 rooms on site are slightly different in design from one another so rooms may vary from the photos above slightly.

In order to secure your spot a £450 non-refundable deposit must be paid at the time of booking. Extended & flexible payment plans are available so the cost can be spread out over several months - full payment for the retreat will be required 8 weeks before the retreat begins (unless agreed otherwise).

All prices shown are per person unless it is a solo occupancy option and the beds can’t be divided, so if you come as a pair please make sure you are comfortable sharing a bed together.

Between all the movement practices and soaking up every corner of our retreat home, we look forward to exploring the nearby Italian coastal town of Salento which offers a captivating blend of history, tradition and culture; a home of many cultural celebrations and festivals, as well as the architecture of close by towns which tell a story of Greek, Roman & Byzantine civilisations.

Boat trips begin a stones throw away if you want to see the coastline from a different perspective, or if you’re interested in the long-standing wine making traditions of the region, we can absolutely organise a tour or tasting for you.
